October 24, 2017

Cashless made effortless.

Earlier this morning (and days before the start of the iPhone X pre-order), Apple has officially launched Apple Pay in the UAE. This will allow supported iPhone users to simply use their devices when making purchases in stores and online.

Apple Pay will support debit and credit cards from either MasterCard or Visa and will include banks such as Mashreq, Emirates NBD, Emirates Islamic, Standard Chartered, HSBC and RAKBANK.

Apple says that Apple Pay will support thousands of locations across the country and will include various retailers and shops like the Apple Store, Starbucks, Virgin Megastore, VOX Cinemas, Ikea, Sharaf DG, Waitrose, Babyshop and more. Additionally, iOS apps from Noon and Namshi will also support Apple Pay.

Supported devices include the iPhone SE, iPhone 6/6 Plus or later (though stores, app and websites), iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, iPad mini 3 and later (through apps and websites) and the Apple Watch (through stores and apps).

Apple Pay will also be supported on Macs released after 2012 and running macOS Sierra or later along with the new MacBook Pros that have integrated Touch ID.

Note that your device must be updated to iOS 11 for Apple Pay to work along with United Arab Emirates as your selected region.
