First day of iPhone X sales met with long queues
November 3, 2017

Apple’s latest flagship goes officially on sale today.

A reported 450+ people stood in queue at Apple Dubai Mall in the early days of Friday morning, November 3. The UAE is one of the few countries where Apple’s latest flagship smartphone is being sold.

The iPhone X is the Apple’s 10th anniversary smartphone and introduces a brand-new screen design with upgraded cameras and internals. It also uses a new form of authentication called Face ID that now uses your face for biometrics data. It is replacing Touch ID which has now been removed.

It was announced earlier this September along with the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, but reported delays in various components in Face ID forced Apple to push the release date to November.

Pinkesh Jaswani was first in line at Apple Dubai Mall, who has been waiting in line since 2 pm the day before. He bought two iPhone X’s, both 256 GB models.

Stocks are limited across all stores and retailers, and pre-order customers will be given priority. Pre-orders opened last October 27th and was sold out in just a couple of minutes. At the moment, you can still pre-order on the official Apple online website, but expect 5-6 weeks before it ships.

The iPhone X comes in silver and space gray colors, in 64 GB and 256 GB configurations costing 4,099 AED and 4,729 AED respectively.
