In 100 years, UAE will build its first city on Mars

Announced by by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the Mars 2117 Project will see the UAE building the first city on the red planet.

It will be a 10-year program where it will prepare a selected group of nationals that will work on scientific breakthroughs that would make it possible to live on Mars. Part of these programs will be introduced in universities in the UAE to help train and prepare the younger generations.

“The landing of people on other planets has been a longtime dream for humans. Our aim is that the UAE will spearhead international efforts to make this dream a reality,” Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid said in statement.

This follows the Mars Probe mission announced by the UAE in 2015. The project is aiming to be the first Arab spacecraft to land on Mars.
