It supports Dolby Vision high-dynamic range imaging.
Announced just last CES 2017, LG has introduced the UP970 – the company’s first 4K Blu-ray player that supports Dolby Vision, another variation of HDR (High Dynamic Range) imaging. The implementation of Dolby Vision is in line with their current launch of new 4K screens that also feature the same HDR technology.
But the UP970 will also support HDR10, and Dolby Vision will be enabled through a future software update. Along with that, this 4K Blu-ray player will also support the new generation of audio formats like Dolby Atmos along with Dolby True HD and DTS-HD Master Audio.
The UP970 will also include Wi-Fi plus support for multiple HDMI outputs. It will have built-in streaming apps like Netflix and YouTube so you can immediately enjoy 4K content without having to purchase a 4K Blu-ray disc. A USB port is also present so you can play videos directly from the drive.
The LG UP970 will be available in stores in the next couple of weeks.
