Pay for your groceries using a Nol card.
If you live (or have been) to Dubai, then you must know the ever-reliable Nol card. This reloadable card was introduced as the main mode of payment for all public transport services in the city. But now it is evolving into something more – you can now use your Nol cards in shops to pay for groceries.
The announcement was made by the Roads and Transportation Authority (RTA) who confirmed that you can use the Nol card to pay for transactions on more than 1,000 retail outlets in Dubai. This move is part of the city’s initiatives towards becoming a smart city. Nol card users can use thier existing cards to make purchases on POS terminals where the rules apply when paying: tap the card on the terminal and the amount will automatically be deducted.
“The network of retailers accepting Nol cards is projected to exceed 5,000 by the end of this year,” confirmed Abdulla Al Madani, CEO of RTA’s Corporate Technology Support Services Sector.
