Part of the country’s efforts to build a city on the red planet.
HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai has just announced a new 500 million AED project that would see the UAE building a city that would stimulate life on Mars. This project was done as part of the UAE’s Mars 2117 project that will aim to bring people to the red planet in 100 years.
In what was described as an ‘extraordinary national project’, the city will be built so it can properly conduct research as to how life will be on Mars. The city will be spread across 1.9 million sq ft and will explore various aspects such as housing and food and how humans will be able to survive.
“The new project is a seed that we plant today, and we expect future generations to reap the benefits, driven by its passion to learn to unveil a new knowledge. The landing of people on other planets has been a longtime dream for humans. Our aim is that the UAE will spearhead international efforts to make this dream a reality,” Sheikh Mohammed said in a statement.
