Whirlpool takes the smart route @ CES 2018

January 14, 2018

It’s time your appliances got smarter. At CES 2018, the key to Whirlpool’s offering was the smart home ecosystem. This is one brand that believes a smart home should learn, adapt and grow with how families care for each other. A collaboration with Google and Amazon announced at the event means users can now control their Whirlpool appliances from anywhere in the house with simple voice commands via Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. They also announced integration of recipe app Yummly into their appliances. The Yummly integration means that you can take a pic of whatever is in your refrigerator, and Yummly will suggest custom recipes that utilize the same.

Whirlpool is also introducing Amazon Virtual Dash Buttons to its refrigerators that have touchscreens. With Virtual Dash Buttons, Prime customers can order their favorite everyday products like beverages, snacks or paper towels straight from their LCD screen on their appliances.

Rather aptly enough, Whirlpool earned three CES Innovation Awards for new and innovative kitchen products, including Whirlpool Smart Appliances in Fingerprint Resistant Stainless Steel, Whirlpool Smart Over the Range Microwave with Scan-to-Cook Technology and the Yummly 2.0 ingredient recognition and connected recipes.
