It’s game time with Asus ROG’s new lineup of gaming notebooks

ROG Citadel XV interactive experience announced along with the ROG Flow X13 and Zephyrus Duo 15 SE.

Asus ROG opens CES 2021 with its ‘For Those Who Date’ virtual launch event that saw the announcement of new ROG gaming notebooks that include the ROG Flow X13, ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE, and the Strix Scar 17. These new devices can be explored with the ROG Citadel XV interactive experience that you can download on Steam.

ROG Citadel XV takes you through its underground fortress, where you’ll get a first-hand look at new ROG products being developed set in a futuristic Cyberpunk-inspired laboratory. The lab designs also reflect the ROG design language based around the themes of Vanguard, Fusion, and Rebel.

ROG Flow X13

This ultraportable gaming laptop is powered by up to an AMD Ryzen 9 5980HS mobile processor along with Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 graphics. You’re also getting up to 10 hours of gaming on a full charge, and even support fast charging through a 100W USB-C PD charger.

The notebook features a 4K panel along with touch support. There are two down-firing speakers enhanced with Dolby Atmos sound technology for the best audio output. The Flow X13 has three heatsinks and fan outlets, and new Arc Flow fans improve airflow without increasing the noise even when using it under intensive tasks or games.

The best part is that the ROG Flow X13 can be paired with an external GPU powered by Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 graphics that gives it enough power to rival a full-sized gaming PC. A special eGPU connector allows 63 Gbps of bandwidth used for graphics that perform better than Thunderbolt-based eGPUs. 

ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE

This gaming notebook features the ROG ScreenPad Plus which gives you a secondary screen that can be used for gaming and other productivity tasks. When the notebook is opened, the raises a few degrees to offer a comfortable viewing angle. 

Powering the notebook is an AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX CPU and Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 graphics. There’s also a choice of a 120Hz 4K display or a 300Hz Full HD display with a 3ms response time. The ScreenPad Plus lets you browse the web or read emails or even record gameplay.

The notebook features an upgraded Active Aerodynamic System Plus (AAS+) cooling system that allows more power to be fed to the CPU and GPU without increasing the noise levels. This keeps the notebook cool when you’re playing a game.

ROG Strix SCAR 17

This gaming powerhouse brings the power of the GeForce RTX 3080 paired with an AMD Ryzen 9 5800HX CPU. It can support up to 32GB of dual-channel DDR-3200Mhz RAM along with new fans and liquid metal cooling.

Designed as a portable esports machine, the SCAR 17 features a 300Hz FH panel with a 3 ms response time or an optional 165Hz WQHD panel that both support Adaptive Sync technology.

There’s also a quad-speaker design that brings Dolby Atmos sound enhancements as well as a two-way AI noise cancellation feature that filters out ambients noises for clear in-game communication. The 90Wh battery can also provide 12 hours of video playback and also supports fast charging.

The new design on the SCAR 17 includes a higher density RGB light bar on the front edge of the chassis as well as an additional light strip under the display. There are also three user-swappable hinge caps and a bold new aesthetic that is inspired by athletic gear.
