Forza Motorsport 7: Racing perfection

October 2, 2017

Let’s check out one of our favorites games of the year.

Forza Motorsport 7 is Microsoft’s homegrown title exclusively made for the Xbox One. Despite the numerous sequels the game stays fresh and true to its core gameplay and Forza Motorsport 7 is not different.

Forza Motorsport 7’s gameplay mechanics is still simple: drive cars to win races and the accumulated credits will let you upgrade your cars to win even more events. The game has masterfully let you feel that with each win, you’re becoming a better driver and as the one playing, that’s all you need to have fun.

Forza Motorsport 7 continues that trend and even adds older tracks and cars from previous games. The single player campaign starts with three events across different circuits. The first three single-laps events will let you feel the different driving situations you’ll experience in the game. Settings include the roads of Dubai to the rainy tracks of Nürburgring and Italy’s Mugello circuit.

The game doesn’t force realistic driving simulations like Gran Turismo per se, but it strikes a fine line between giving you a great driving experience and giving a good driving simulation. You don’t have to be an expert to enjoy the game, and that’s what makes it great.

But of course, it’s still a game, and the Forza Driver’s cup is the main accomplishment you need to achieve which can be won by winning all of the six championships available. The in-game credits will let you buy the cars that you want, but it has now been designed as a tier-system where collecting a number of cars will unlock the next tier.

Dynamic weather is now present on Forza Motorsport 7 – and it’s what makes the game more realistic than what it already is. Rain, thunder and even fog are all the elements that you must overcome to win your race, though I must admit I was enjoying seeing those effects.

The graphics is also the one thing that stands out from this game. It’s gorgeous and detailed, not to mention that you get to play the game at a stable 60 fps at 1080p. Dubai residents will be able to pin point various landmarks presented in the game – even the Al Barsha Salik toll gate has a cameo. But what amazed me is the detailed render of Jabel Hafeet’s long winding roads. It will literally make you feel like you’re driving on that mountain.

It’s also an Xbox Play Anywhere title, meaning that the Xbox One game will also give you a free copy on Windows 10. It is course, also compatible on Xbox One X and you’re promised to get true 4K resolutions on gameplay.

Forza Motorsport 7 succeeds in giving you the best driving experience you can ever have on a racing game, no matter if you’re a causal gamer or an expert.
