It releases this October.
Activision today has just announced that the next Call of Duty game will officially be titled Modern Warfare (not to be confused with the 2007 game Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare). Releasing October 25th, the new game brings back the single-player campaign that lacked its predecessor. The game is being developed by Infinity Ward.
“This is an all-new Modern Warfare reimagined in every way,” said Dave Stohl, co-Studio Head, Infinity Ward. “We are creating an emotionally charged experience that’s inspired by the headlines in the world today, where the rules are grey and battle lines are blurred. Players will join a varied cast of international special forces and freedom fighters in gripping and heart-pounding missions through iconic European cities and volatile expanses of the Middle East. It’s intense, it’s exciting, and we can’t wait for our fans to play this October.”
Modern Warfare will have a new engine that can deliver the most photo-realistic visuals you’d see from a Call of Duty Game. This includes a new rendering system plus support for 4K HDR and even Dolby Atmos for true-to-life sound (though we’d imagine those gunfights will be even more realistic).
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be releasing on the PS4, Xbox One, and the PC, where it will be a ‘fully-optimized’ PC version.
