We could use a more powerful console.
The Nintendo Switch currently is one of the best handheld consoles available. With the growing library of games, the console has proven to be a popular choice for some users. But by now you all now that the Switch’s hardware isn’t as high-end as we expected, which also forced some games to lose some graphical textures so it will be compatible.
But there’s some good news: The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Nintendo is preparing to announce new Switch hardware this year, most likely during E3 in June. Not only that, two Switch consoles could probably be announced.
One of the consoles will be an improved version of the Switch: better screen, better hardware, and better controls. While it could be safe to assume that this is similar to what Sony and Microsoft did with the PS4 Pro and the Xbox One X, WSJ says it could be different than what we could expect. The other console will be a stripped down version of the Switch that removes controller vibrations, for example, to keep the costs low.
It was also said that Nintendo is working with Sharp for the screens on the new Nintendo Switch. It is also known that Sharp originally bid to make the screens on the first Switch but lost the contract.
More details should be revealed in the next couple of weeks and if Nintendo is indeed working on improved hardware, then we can expect an even better year for the company.
