Game On: It Looks Like a Disc-less Xbox One will release soon
March 6, 2019

It’s currently called ‘Xbox Maverick’.

We’ve already heard news about Microsoft releasing an all-digital Xbox One, and based on recent reports it looks like we can expect the new console to arrive this summer. Code-named Xbox Maverick, this all-digital edition of the Xbox One console means it will take out the disc drive and will rely on games that you download online.

The removal of the disc drive means that this new Xbox One console will be even cheaper than the already affordable Xbox One S.

An all-digital Xbox One makes sense though since in most regions around the world games are mostly downloaded as opposed to buying the physical discs. But in a way, you’ll be losing the playback of 4K content, especially on discs.

Just in case the Xbox Maverick gets released, it will probably be the last console in the current generation to be released by Microsoft before the eventual next-generation consoles that could probably be announced at this year’s E3 2019.
