Game On: Mario Kart Tour just became Nintendo’s most downloaded mobile game
October 3, 2019

90 million downloads and counting.

We all know it was going to be big. As expected, Nintendo’s Mario Kart Tour has just been downloaded more than 90 million times since it was released to Android and iOS devices last week. Compare that to Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp that gained 14.3 million downloads in its first week and another Mario game, Super Mario Run, which was downloaded 13 million times during its first week of release.

Android gained a big portion of the 90 million download milestone, where it has been downloaded 53.5 million times and 36.5 million times for iOS. It has been expected since Android has a larger user base but in terms of in-app purchases, iOS users are the ones who are spending more. At the moment, Mario Kart Tour has already earned more than $12.7 million in revenue from in-app purchases.

While many expressed disappointment with Nintendo’s monetization of the game, fans still praised the game for its gameplay and graphics.

Mario Kart Tour is a free download available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
