Niantic also created the hugely popular Pokemon Go.

Years after it was teased, it is now confirmed that Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will be released to mobile devices this weekend – June 21st to be exact. The release date was confirmed at a recent exclusive event in Los Angeles.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will follow similar gameplay to Pokemon Go, where it utilizes AR in discovering artifacts, meeting characters from the franchise and even capturing legendary beasts. Like Pokemon Go, it will use your local maps in playing the game. Once you’ve captured enough beasts, you can also have them fight against others to gain upgrades.

True to the Harry Potter universe, you will also have the chance to be sorted into your desired house, including choosing your own want and even the type of ‘magical’ you would want to do (in this case you have a choice of either a Professor, Auror or Magizoologist.

Beta testing for the game started as early as April 2019, and it is now confirmed to be released on Android and iOS devices by this weekend. It’s a gradual rollout, so don’t worry if you don’t see it on your local app store.
