The UAE capital served as the setting for the much-anticipated movie

As Star Wars: The Force Awakens continue to break box-office records all over the world, many are still in awe that the movie was shot with as few special effects shots as possible.

With the protagonist Rey living on the desert planet of Jakku (similar to Tatooine where Luke Skywalker was from), the producers needed to find the most authentic looking place available.

The place turned out to be Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE. With help from local entities including the Abu Dhabi Film Commission and twofour54, they’ve managed to deliver the most genuine setting for one of the movie’s most iconic scenes.

May the Force be with you.
