Familiar faces make up the reimagined, all-female remake.
When the prospect of a third Ghostbusters film were put to rest, fans were quite let down that no new films will come in the future.
That is when original Ghostbusters cast member Bill Murray suggested an all-female that the movie saw some glim of hope.
Now it seems the movie is going forward with the all-female cast which can now be confirmed: Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon. McCarthy and Wiig both co-starred in the hit Bridesmaids and both had stints hosting Saturday Night Live, which McKinnon is currently a part of. The movie will be directed by Paul Feig, director of Bridesmaids and The Heat – who confirmed the by posting an image on his Twitter account.
While the change in the direction of the movie was welcomed by mostly everyone, not all were ecstatic about the all-female cast. The new Ghostbusters will hit theaters on July 22, 2016.
