New short film will take place in the same universe.
While you may have to wait a while before the third (and supposedly final) installment of Jurassic World hits theaters in June of 2021, franchise director Colin Treverrow has surprised us with a short film debuting this weekend.
A film, called Battle at Big Rock, is a live-action short film that takes place in the Jurassic World universe. It was revealed that the short will be set right after the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Treverrow tweeted the announcement, along with a quote said by Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) during the events of Fallen Kingdom. Not much information was given, though the short will be written by Emily Carmichael, who will also be penning the script for Jurassic World 3.
The live-action short film Battle at Big Rock will debut on September 15th on FX in the US. Expect it go online shortly after that.
