There’s a good chance you wouldn’t want to be alone with these dolls.

The release of the Child’s Play remake and Annabelle Comes Home next week again puts into focus the scary dolls that haunted the big screen. We’ve been treated to nightmares about these little guys and while we know they’re not real, there’s something about that still keeps us up at night.

Here are 5 of the scariest dolls that haunted us from horror movies:

Billy (Dead Silence) – This ventriloquist dummy already has a creepy smile, and while the movie didn’t impress us that much, James Wan delivered one of the few dolls that actually kept us at the edge of our seats.

Annabelle (The Conjuring/Annabelle series) – What makes this doll scary isn’t the demonic possessions it manifests or even that creepy look it gives, it’s the fact that the movie was based on a true story is what makes it even more chilling.

The Clown (Poltergeist) – While I was already covering my eyes the entire movie, this clown is what kept me up at night.

Chucky (Child’s Play) – The movie about a notorious killer doll was a cult hit, but it did induce nightmares on both kids and adults, who always thought that dolls are cute. Not for Chucky – though we’re waiting to see if the remake can be as horrifying as the original.

Jigsaw (Saw) – Also created by James Wan, this doll isn’t haunted or possessed, but it’s the embodiment of a serial killer that tortures his victims in creative (and bloody) ways. When he appears on the screen, be prepared to die (horribly).

Any other scary dolls that you think should be on this list? Give it a shout out in the comments below!

Child’s Play opens in UAE cinemas this Thursday.
