The newest member of the Avengers arrives this week.
After 10 years and 20 movies, it’s surprising to know that Captain Marvel will be the first female-led superhero film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But better late than never right? After the huge success of Wonder Woman, it’s high time that Marvel also introduces their own heroine.
With Captain Marvel arriving in theaters this week, everyone is now hyped to see the next Marvel superhero arrive in the big screen – and she arrives just a month before Avengers: Endgame also opens in cinemas.
Here are the top things you need to know before seeing ‘Captain Marvel’
Turn Back Time – Captain Marvel will take us back way before Tony Stark was Iron Man – 1995 to be exact. The 90’s setting means that we will also see Nick Fury before the eyepatch, and a younger Phil Coulson.
The Ultimate Cameo – It was revealed that Stan Lee was able to film his cameo for Captain Marvel including Avengers: Endgame. Early reactions said that it will be tearful one so prepare your tissues.
Returning from the Galaxy – Also returning from their stint in Guardians of the Galaxy is Ronan the Accuser and Korath the Pursuer. They will be part of Carol Danvers’ team and will show them before they became big baddies in Guardians of the Galaxy.
Sherlock Veterans – With Jude Law joining the cast, he will complete the group of actors who have starred in adaptations of Sherlock Holmes that includes his co-star in the movie Robert Downey, Jr., along with British television version that stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.
The Casting Process – Before Brie Larson was cast, Emily Blunt (who was originally supposed to play Black Widow), Yvonne Strahovski, Natalie Dormer, and Rebecca Ferguson were all rumored to play the role of Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel.
The Villains – Skrulls will make their big screen debut in Captain Marvel and the movie focus on the ongoing war between them and the Kree.
Captain Marvel is Shazam! – Don’t be confused with that name with another DC superhero that’s also releasing a couple of weeks later. Despite the similarities in names, Shazam! (or Captain Marvel technically) is still its own brand of superhero and we’re also excited to see his film debut next month.
The Post-Credit Scene – It’s been confirmed that Captain Marvel will have two post-credits scenes, one of which will tie it directly with Avengers: Endgame. Excited? We are too!
Captain Marvel opens in UAE cinemas this Thursday.
