Nintendo finally solves that charging problem on the Switch
May 10, 2018

This new accessory will let you play and charge the Switch.

While we’re big fans of the Nintendo Switch since its release last year, it’s not without its cons. One of the problems we had is that the Switch can’t be used on a stand while it’s charging.

The Switch’s charging port is located right below the main console, so it would be impossible to charge the device while it stands. This led to some accessory makers releasing stands where you can safely use the console while charging it.

The problem is most of the stands, especially the ones that include electrical docks, didn’t undergo Nintendo’s quality assurance test, which led to some Switch consoles malfunctioning after the recent update or worse, it could potentially brick it.

Nintendo now solves this problem by introducing a new certified dock and stand that finally lets you use the Switch on a stand while it’s charging. It’s a $20 accessory, though I still believe they could have offered this stand when the Switch was first released last year.

The adjustable charging will be available this July.
