Pokémon Go Fest will be an online-only event happening this July
May 28, 2020

The festival is usually held in select cities around the world.

It is without a doubt that Pokémon Go is one of the most successful mobile games to be released. At the height of its popularity, its makers have organized a Pokémon Go Fest that will bring together players in select locations around the world that included Japan and Germany, with the first one being held in Chicago in 2017.

This year’s Pokémon Go Fest will still go ahead on July 25th to the 26th as an online-only event in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis. This also means that anyone in the whole world can participate while playing the safety of their homes.

“The adventures of Pokémon GO Fest are coming direct to Trainers and neighborhoods around the world so anyone can participate from home,” said Michael Steranka, Director, Marketing & Global Live Events in a blog post. “Pokémon GO Fest is now a two-day experience, and Trainers can, for the first time, play on both days. Since the event is now global, we’re taking steps to make tickets available to as many Trainers as possible.”

Pokémon Go shot into fame thanks to its one-of-a-kind augmented reality gameplay that required you to walk around your surroundings as you catch and train Pokémon. The original concept required you to venture out and explore the outside world. But with everyone staying home nowadays, the makers of the hit game have updated Pokémon Go to include features that will let you play inside your home without the need to get out.

Pokémon Go is a free download available on iOS and Android devices.
