Prototype gets a remaster but older version runs better
July 21, 2015

A remaster supposed to better than the original, right?

Last-gen games Prototype and Prototype 2 has made its way to the Xbox One last week, but no one knew that it was going to be released. There was not any pre-hype announcement like God of War III Remastered or The Last of Us Remastered.

Prototype and Prototype 2 got equally good reviews back when it was released on the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. But with the new remaster, it seems that it is not getting the same rave reviews. Why? As Eurogamer‘s Digital Foundry found out, the remastered version runs with a slower framerate compared to the original.

In the video below, you can see that the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 versions run at a decent 30 fps while the Xbox One version dips even lower at 20-23 fps. Current remasters of older games ‘should’ at least offer 1080p gameplay at 60 fps. Makes you wonder why’d they remaster it in the first place.
