Ubisoft’s The Division is the best-selling new franchise game in history. It’s broken the record for a new franchise launch beating off Bungie’s Destiny to the top post.
The game’s figures have not yet been released, but Destiny did $330m USD in the first five days of sale.
“The Division taking the top spot in the industry for first week sales of a new franchise is a tremendous achievement,” says Ubi boss bloke Yves Guillemot. “We are very proud of our teams, and humbled by and thankful for the millions of players who are giving us their feedback and support”.
The Division is also keeping its players engaged (I’m one of them, I’m still trying to do the review but I’ve been so distracted playing the actual thing!) with over 1.2 million concert players over the weekend alone and with over 100 million gaming hours logged since launch.
“The Division is the latest example yet of our unique ability to deliver immersive gaming playgrounds that keeps players engaged and that they eagerly share with their friends and community,” Guillemot said.
