Acclaimed Star Wars VR experience will arrive for the PSVR this year.
The three episodes of Vader Immortal released last year gave a glimpse at how immersive VR can be when implemented properly. The game was a huge success when it launched for Oculus devices, and today its creators ILMxLAB has confirmed that Vader Immortal is heading to PlayStation VR this summer.
“Back in 2016, when ILMxLAB first started talking about creating a canonical VR series that focused on Darth Vader, our goal was to tell a new and unique story about one of the most infamous villains in the galaxy. We wanted to bring you into the world of Star Wars in a way that could only be done through immersive storytelling in VR. This would put YOU right in the middle of the action to connect with amazing characters as your actions move the story forward,” said Mark S. Miller, Executive Creative Producer at ILMxLAB in a blog post.
The game puts you in the shoes of a Force-sensitive smuggler who becomes part of Vader’s posse. The game takes place after Revenge of the Sith, where Vader is reeling from the death of his wife Padme as he sets out on a quest to resurrect her.
This adds to another reason to get the PlayStation VR – and if you’re worried about future-proofing, Sony has already confirmed that the accessory will be compatible with the PlayStation 5 when it launches later this year.
