AI Everything: Cool Things to Check Out
May 1, 2019

Get a glimpse of what the future has in store.

The AI Everything summit opened its doors yesterday at the Dubai World Trade Centre and features various workshops and technologies all driven by artificial intelligence. It gave us a peek at how future things will operate through the use of AI, which could be beneficial for businesses, governments and of course end users.

Here are some of the cool stuff we’ve seen at AI Everything:

Registration – The awesomeness happens even before you enter the halls. If you register online, they’ll be asking for a full-size photo of you. While I initially thought its for registration purposes (which it technically is), that image will actually be used by AI so that it can match your face when you arrive to get your badge. True to this statement, I went to get my badge where a camera scanned my face, confirmed my name and my badge was printed – all of that in just under a minute.

Microsoft AI – We’re already familiar with some of Microsoft’s own AI technologies. Pass by their booth and see if their AI algorithms can correctly guess your age or even check out how AI can check your mood by seeing your face. The best part? It can recommend an ice cream flavor which you can get for free – who can’t say no to free ice cream?

Robotics – Various robotics are also on display at AI Everything, all, of course, utilizing AI to calculate their movements or how it will answer questions. One interesting bit is a machine that plays basketballs, where it almost always manages to shoot the balls through the hoop.

Sessions and Workshops – Of course, the main highlight of the summit is the various workshops and sessions that is completely free to attend. This range from new AI discoveries or how AI is utilized on businesses, as demoed by tech firms like IBM, Intel, Huawei, and Microsoft.

Day 2 of AI Everything happens today so if you’ve got time (admission is free), head on to the Za’abeel Halls of the Dubai World Trade Centre to check it out.
