PS5 already has a Game Boost feature, but more games should support it

Evidently overshadowed by the Xbox’s FPS Boost.

One of our favourite things about the Xbox is FPS Boost, which utilizes the new hardware found on the new consoles to offer improved framerates on older games. Over the past months, Microsoft has regularly added games that support the feature, even pushing some games to 120fps.

But as we always see Microsoft showing off their increasing list of games that support the feature, Sony is also making its own efforts in the form of Game Boost on the PS5. Game Boost originally appeared on the PS4 Pro, which took advantage of the faster hardware to help games get better framerates.

The same concept appears on the PS5, where games like Ghost of Tsushima, God of War, and Days Gone are now patched to take advantage of the feature. The release of the trailer (seen above) points that Sony is also pushing for more games to take advantage of Game Boost in a bid to compete with Xbox’s FPS Boost.

Sony does have a lot of catching up to do especially since Microsoft has been doing a great job in patching games to support FPS Boost. Sony could also tap into offering performance improvements for some of its flagship franchises, which are mostly given for free as part of the PlayStation Plus programme.
