The world’s only in-person event to be held during the pandemic.
His Highness Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum visited the 40th edition of GITEX Technology Week, which is the only in-person live event to be held this year amid the ongoing pandemic.
His Highness touched upon the importance of the technology sector on how it could improve the future, this is despite the ongoing challenges being posed by the pandemic.
“The decision to organize GITEX as an in-person event reflects our determination to overcome the current circumstances. It also reflects the UAE’s commitment to supporting its major partners in the global technology industry across the world. By organizing GITEX this year, we seek to strengthen and expand our long-standing partnership with them to accelerate our shared journey to the future.,” His Highness said.

He highlighted the importance of technology and how it can turn challenges into opportunities. “As the region’s technology hub, we seek to create a highly conducive environment to promote greater investments in the sector and attract the world’s best talent to develop innovative solutions that can help us strengthen our progress towards sustainable development,” Sheikh Mohammed added.
His Highness also visited the different stands at GITEX, including Microsoft where he met Sayed Hashish, General Manager, Microsoft UAE, and Huawei, where he was briefed by Charles Yang, President of Huawei Middle East.
The 40th edition of GITEX Technology Week concludes today.
