Microsoft’s console will release a year from now.
Despite the release date a year away, Microsoft has surprised everyone a few days ago and finally showcased their newest console, the Xbox Series X, during the Game Awards. The color scheme is reminiscent of the Xbox One X, but that’s where the similarities end since it is being dubbed as the most powerful console ever with some even comparing it to a PC.

Here’s everything we know so far about the Xbox Series X:
The Xbox Series X takes on a new design – and from the image, it reminded of the Linksys Velop routers. Browse online and you will already find various memes about the design. I personally like it, and while the image looks like the console is vertical, you can still use it horizontally just like previous consoles.
We’ve already reported about the Xbox Series X’s hardware, which will include a GPU that’s twice as fast as the one found on the Xbox One X and a faster NVMe solid-state drive and while Microsoft is tight-lipped about the exact specifications, for now, we’re guessing it will be a huge performance boost from the current console lineup.
A disc slot is still noticeably present, which could also confirm that the Xbox Series X will still be able to play 4K Blu-ray discs. There’s also a good chance that a disc-less version will be released soon, though that would probably in a less powerful model.
Back to the design, the Xbox Series X will have one massive cooling vent at the top where a large glowing light is also found. The massive vent was done so that cooling will be more efficient and quieter.
When playing games, you’re getting four times the power of the Xbox One X. This also means that the Xbox Series X can offer up to 8k resolution at 120 fps – the only thing you should worry about now is if your TV can support that resolution.
For the Xbox Series X’s controller, the design will be mostly the same, except for some enhancements. These enhancements include a new D-pad similar to the one found on the Xbox One Elite gamepad and a new share button where you can easily capture screenshots and videos of your gameplay. The controller is also designed to work with the Xbox One consoles and even your current Xbox One controllers will still work with the Xbox Series X.
As for the price, Microsoft did say that they’re looking to make the console as affordable for everyone as possible. But judging from the crazy specifications, don’t expect it to be cheap – but hey we have one year to save up, maybe that’s why they’re already teasing it a year early.
