Microsoft is using AI to detect cheaters on Xbox Live
July 2, 2018

How will that work?

Microsoft has just filed a new patent that will utilize artificial technology to catch cheaters on its Xbox Live platform. The AI will automatically detect a certain method on how cheaters work and will also learn other methods to detect unlawful players on Xbox Live.

Microsoft said that artificial intelligence will also utilize machine learning to track usage between the games and on Xbox Live. It was mentioned that these usage data will include achievements and game scores. If something different is noticed by the AI, it will then be sent for further analysis to confirm if the user is indeed cheating.

AI was utilized because the data from millions of players will be difficult to analyze since manual techniques that are facilitated by humans will be slower.

Cheating on online games has been prevalent even on other platforms like the PC and PlayStation. This patent from Microsoft does present a very interesting way of detecting foul play, and if successful, it could also provide a new way of offering a better and fairer gaming experience for everyone.
