Motorola Edge+: Taking productivity to the next level

July 5, 2020

Software that is as good as the hardware.

Motorola’s latest flagship, the Edge+, already ranks as one of our favorite Android flagships of 2020. Build for speed, the smartphone brings in some of the best hardware we have seen that includes the Snapdragon 865 CPU, 12GB of memory with 256GB of storage, the gorgeous 6.7-inch 90Hz Endless Edge display, 5000 mAh battery, the incredible 108-megapixel quad camera, and of course 5G connectivity.

But the Motorola Edge+ did not just go all out on hardware, but the software that runs on this flagship also ranks as one of the best experiences we had on an Android device. It runs Android 10 with Google’s entire suite of applications and services are also pre-installed. Aside from regularly receiving updates, the Edge+ offers a near-stock experience so you will get to enjoy the best of what Android has to offer.

Motorola did go the extra mile and included My UX on the Edge+. My UX will allow you to bring various customizations to the Edge+ that stock Android does not offer. It includes options that help personalize your experience to make it more intuitive, and functions just the way you like it. Despite being a third-party skin, it never slows down the smartphone, and user experience is always fast and fluid, unlike other skins that hog up system resources.

One feature we love on the Edge+ is Moto Actions, which brings back familiar gestures that were introduced in previous Motorola smartphones. When using the Edge+, you can simply do a chopping motion to instantly turn on the flash or even do a twisting motion while holding the smartphone that will launch the camera app.

My UX also has Moto Display that lets you customize how you want to use the Edge+ screen. You can make the screen edges light up with various colors for different notifications. This is especially helpful when you are not holding the smartphone, letting you easily see incoming calls, messages, alarms, battery charging status, or other notifications.

Also part of My UX is Edge Touch that allows you to simply swipe up or down the edges of the display to bring down notifications and even switch apps, making the Edge+ capable of handling multitasking with ease. Edge Touch also lets you add shortcuts to your most-used apps, giving you an easier way to launch apps without going to the home screen.

Even with a near-stock Android experience, My UX on the Motorola Edge+ will still let you further customize your device with different themes that include that ability to choose colors, use different fonts, change icon shapes and even the choose a fingerprint reader animation.

Overall, My UX’s software customizations combined with the power of Android 10 perfectly complement the incredible hardware found on the Motorola Edge+, making it one of the best Android smartphones that you can buy today.
