Atomic Blonde is bringing bad-ass women to the spotlight. Here’s some more ass-kicking women that we love.
Action and women are rare combination. But every once in a while a movie comes out that brings women in the spotlight often taken by men. With the recent release (and acclaim) for Atomic Blonde, we take a look at some badass female characters that has made a mark in cinema.
Black Widow (Marvel Cinematic Universe) – Played by Scarlett Johansson, she’s dubbed as one of the best spies and assassins in the Marvel universe, Natasha Romanoff now fights as part of the Avengers – though recent events in Captain America: Civil War now makes her a fugitive, she can still take down anyone who stands in her way.
Imperator Furiosa (Max Max: Fury Road) – The movie’s main highlight wasn’t Tom Hardy’s title character, but in fact her female counterpart played by Charlize Theron. Every time she’s on screen it’s a pure delight.
The Bride (Kill Bill Volume I & II) – Beatrix Kiddo, played by Uma Thurman, managed to take down 88 Yakuzas and an assassin dressed as a high school student and still had time to scold a young man (Video is NSFW).
Sarah Connor (The Terminator Franchise) – Who doesn’t know Sarah Connor? When I was a kid I actually wished she was my mom.
Diana Prince (Wonder Woman) – Unarguably one of the most famous female superheroes – there’s nothing Diana can defeat – even the God of War.
Eowyn (The Lord of the Rings Trilogy) – Even when she was in a place dominated by Men, Eowyn (played by Miranda Otto) never stopped fighting for her right to join the battle. “I am no man” – that’s probably one of the best lines I’ve heard in the movie.
Rita Vrataski (Edge of Tomorrow) – Emily Blunt’s character in this movie is so badass, it made Tom Cruise’s character the damsel in distress.
Ellen Ripley (Alien Quadrilogy) – Not even creatures with acid blood can keep her from being a badass. And fighting the Alien queen? Nothing will ever top that.
Alice (Resident Evil Series) – It’s cheesy and over the top, but battling zombies won’t be as fun without Alice.
Princess Leia (Star Wars Saga) – From Princess to General. I never thought I’d be turned on with a woman with a weird hairstyle, but look at her now – years after the first movie her legacy still lives on (RIP Carrie Fisher).
Anyone of your favorite kick-ass woman not make the list? Give it a shoutout in the comments below!
