T3’s Top 5 Underrated Smartphones

Because no one has the budget to spend 4000 AED on a smartphone (looks at you, iPhone X).

Smartphones have evolved from simple communication tools to full blown computer replacements. If you own one, chances are a bulk of your everyday tasks is now done with the gadget you hold in your hand.

But the smartphone market is now triumphed by smartphones from Apple and Samsung, and often newer players get overlooked because of the more popular brands. But for the non-techie, it’s always these brands that stand out, but you dig deeper you’ll find affordable and sometimes better alternatives.

Here’s a list of some of our favorite underrated smartphones:

OnePlus 5 – While not exactly cheap, it is still inexpensive compared to other flagships. That, along with high-end specifications easily make a viable alternative to more expensive Android flagships.

Moto G5 – It’ll cost you less than 1000 AED, and for something that costs that much you’d be surprised how much the Moto G5 can do.

Xiaomi Mi A1 – The company’s first Android One hits all the checkmarks: decent specs, great camera and an affordable price. It recently launched in India, with a UAE release happening later this month.

Huawei P10 Plus – Huawei’s slowly becoming one of the most sought-after smartphones thanks to its excellent hardware and software. While the recently announced Huawei Mate 10 is a top favorite, the older P10 Plus is still a capable device that shouldn’t burn a hole in your wallet.

Honor 9 – The Honor series has already been one of the most recommended budget smartphones and the new Honor 9 isn’t any different. It offers great design and performance and other bells and whistles that you’d be surprised why it isn’t priced at a premium.
