Top 10 Shows and Movies You Can Stream on Netflix this Halloween

October 29, 2018

Love scary movies and shows? Check out this list.

The time of the year happens this week, and just you’re not out partying at Halloween parties or accompanying kids trick or treating, maybe you can just stay in and watch a good old horror movie.

Thankfully, Netflix has a decent selection of shows and movies that are guaranteed to keep you cuddled inside your sheets. Here are some of our favorites:

The Haunting of Hill House – This reimaging of the classic novel brings a modern twist that perfectly blends drama with old-school horror. My friends and I kept covering our eyes in some scenes, but we were crying by the time it ended – why so? Watch it and find out!

Haunted – This series documents real-life accounts of individuals who have encountered paranormal entities. If the stories don’t scare you, wait until they show a recreation of what happened – complete with Insidious-esque imagery that would keep you awake at night.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina – This new and darker take on the famed comic series turned out to be better than expected. It’s funny, scary and most of all, interesting. The 10 one-hour episodes should be a perfect binge on Halloween weekend.

Gerald’s Game – Who knew that one of Carla Gugino’s best movies would be a Netflix original? This simple yet effective take on what to do if you’re placed in an extreme, inescapable situation.

The Shining – This Stanley Kubrick classic isn’t your typical horror film. But the various scenes that highlight of how the characters verge into insanity is truly terrifying.

The Thing – John Carpenter’s classic monster movie usually goes for the gore – but it has enough scares that should keep you checking under your bed before you go to sleep.

Urban Legend – It may be called a Scream rip-off, but the movie perfectly shows how nearly everyone still believes in urban legends. It pokes fun on those beliefs while adding the slasher subplot.

My Bloody Valentine – This remake of the classic slasher movie actually works despite the dull plot. Still, it’s an okay way to spend 90 minutes while eating microwave popcorn.

The Witch – This horror movie hits all the rights marks in my scare scale, especially with how the movie concluded. Note that the movie was butchered with cuts when it opened here in the UAE but you can stream a full uncut version on Netflix.

Paranormal Activity – While the succeeding sequels sucked, this first installment in the horror franchise is still the scariest, especially when you watch with all the lights off.

All of these movies are now available to stream on Netflix here in the UAE.
