How to Use Notes to Sign Documents on iOS

January 24, 2021

No need to install another app.

The Notes app on iOS has gotten some significant new upgrades from its early days. What used to be a note-taking application has now become a fully-featured word processing tool that lets you do a lot of other things.

One of these is the ability to scan and sign documents. Sure, other apps already offer this function, but since Notes already has this feature built-in, it means that there’s no need for you to install an additional app.

Follow these steps on how to use the Notes app to scan and sign documents:

Press and hold the Notes icon to show the menu and select ‘Scan Document’.

Point the camera at the document and it will automatically scan it.

Once the document has been scanned, press the three-dot menu on the top right corner and choose ‘Markup’.

Below, press the ‘+’ sign and select ‘Signature’.

Create your own signature and press Done.

You can now add and scale your signature on the document you’ve scanned.
