The $2 million electric car features 1,973 horsepower.
Meet the Lotus Evija, the first electric hypercar that packs a 1,973 horsepower that will rival some of the fastest cars in the world. It’s scheduled to enter production next year, and only 130 will be made, each costing almost $2 million.
The Evija packs four electric motors that are dedicated to giving power to each wheel. This also means that the Evija can deliver a top speed of 320 km/h and 0-100 km/h in just three seconds. It’s also lightweight (for a car at least), weighing only 1,680 kilograms.
Lotus says that a full charge can give you 400 kilometers of range, and it can even charge up to 80 percent in just 12 minutes when using 350kW chargers. A full charge takes about 18 minutes total, but Lotus said that if the 800kW chargers become available, you can charge the Evija to 100 percent capacity in just nine minutes.
The Evija does evoke the hypercar look based on the design, with two massive diffusers built on its rear. The futuristic look was welcomed by everyone, and our editors here at T3 Towers were loving the Evija’s design.
Inside you will find what Lotus alls a ski slope-type center console with touch-sensitive controls. The same goes for the dashboard, which is an all-screen design. A few commented on the rather futuristic design, which might not be everyone’s cup of tea – then again not everyone will be purchasing a $2 million electric car.
Additional feature includes seats lined with Alcantara fabric along with headlights that use lasers for lighting. Lotus said that Evija is fully customizable, which of course will drive the price even higher.
Evija will be connected to the cloud, which can also update the software over-the-air automatically. Along with that, Lotus is making a companion app for smartphones along with support for Apple’s CarPlay and Android Auto.
The Evija will be Lotus’ first automobile after it was brought over by Chinese company Geely in 2017.
