Makook Special: Home for the Holidays – Enhanced

December 7, 2015

Authored by John Larson

Home for the holidays!  What a wonderful phrase evoking the warm feelings of bringing family members together, from wherever they might be, for food, laughter and strengthening family bonds during a season of giving.

Well, no one said that your cozy home of holiday cheer shouldn’t be updated for the age of IOT-IC! (Internet Of Things – Including Christmas!)

The switch that turns on the fireplace can be controlled through your Home Center.  The electric incense burner stocked with evergreen and cinnamon scents for the holiday season, can be set to turn on when you return home each evening.  The Christmas tree lights can be set to turn on as well as part of your ‘return home’ scene.  Add some seasonal music ready to play with a tap of your app and you have set the holiday mood!

This time of year, all of your favorite traditional Christmas movies, and your children’s favorites from your personal library on your Home Cloud are available to you on any device, at any time, from anywhere.  The music that gets you in a holiday mood and your home videos of Christmases past can be right alongside in your library. This can make travelling for the holidays a more pleasant part of the whole season.

You can have even more fun with a few touches of ‘Christmas magic’.  For example, set up that new electric train set you bought for your little one to run around the tree.  When he is awake in the morning and enters the room with the tree and gifts, turn on the train set remotely with Makook so it starts to run as he walks in.  Or, set it to run in a scene with the tree lights coming on as well when he enters the room and the monitoring camera detects motion.  Be sure to have your video camera rolling to catch his reaction!  It will be a moment you’ll want to keep.

If your home currently cannot be an active part of your holiday pleasure as described here, have I got a Christmas gift wish-list suggestion for you!

Ask for a ‘gift of tech’ that doesn’t feel like tech at all because it’s so easy to use.  It fits into your current life and lifestyle effortlessly and provides you an upgrade to the way you want to live, and works through things like your mobile phone, laptop and TV that you are already very comfortable using.  The fact that it is almost infinitely expandable and will grow with the Internet of Things and Services makes it a gift that keeps on giving!  Think of it like a Lego set for adults.  You can continue to add more and new things to your system and keep building more impressive structure to your lifestyle.  This includes building on streaming media, VOD, eHealth, eEducation as well as the IOT devices.  Doesn’t this sound like a real Christmas wish?

Well, it certainly is a great wish. The beauty is, it is real.  And, the Home Center that will make these dreams come true would fit in your Christmas stocking hanging over the fireplace (although, not recommended).  It will also probably cost less than a few of those gifts that you don’t really want, and much less than the satellite TV service you are paying for every year.

Even better while you are shopping for the holidays, you can quietly buy this yourself and it is something that the whole family can and will use and enjoy on an everyday basis.  How many gifts offer that kind of recurring joy and benefit at such a great value.

Makook can bring all of this to your home, your family, your life and your lifestyle.  Makook is providing the first managed service delivery platform to enable ubiquitous and simple access and interactions between people, data, services and devices.  This delivers what others have only promised: a truly seamless connected life where everyone and everything speak the same ‘digital language’ and interact in ways never possible before.  Built for a seamless digital life experience.
