T3ME Recommends: Fantom R Wallet

November 13, 2021

CES 2022 is almost upon us, and the big tech events are back on track. The age of impersonal Zoom calls seems dusted and done, as we have started planning itineraries for the biggie launches ahead.

For someone like me who relishes the idea of balancing multiple global events, driven by the odds of chancing upon the next big thing in tech, the Fantom Wallet is a godsend.

After all, the Fantom RFID Wallet fits a very targeted audience, on-the-go professionals who seek a stylish, very secure way of taking care of their cards.

Now RFID cards are very much in that been-there-seen-that crowd, coming in at multiple price points. So Fantom decided to go a step ahead. To a robust and stylish ceramic aluminum alloy body, they added on sumptuous leather finishes [the carbon fibre Fantom R Stealth is quite a level up), and decided to go all out on the accessory front.

So for instance on the Fantom R Wallet, which I bought, there were a total of 6 rather intriguing finishes, right from walnut and bamboo to brown dot leather and black leather. A key thing to love about the Fantom R Wallet was the sheer amount of modular attachments that this Canadian company has on offer. Thus includes everything from a cash holder, a coin holder, a key holder, silicon band, a tracker [powered by a Chipolo card] and an ID holder. Plus, you can also get money clips in 5 colors.

When I first held the Fantom R wallet, I had a smile on my face. After all, far from the rigid contours of regular RFID wallets, the Fantom R wallet, with its ceramic-coated aluminium chassis [and yes, that brown dot leather finish,) felt amazing in the hand.

I slid 4 cards in, including 2 embossed ones, they went in smoothly. The lever on the side moves them to a trajectory where you can choose which to take, while a slot by the side lets you use your thumb to take the cards out as well.

The next step was installing the key holder attachment. The packing for the attachment came with a hugely detailed set of instructions, a hex key, washers and screwdrivers for installing keys. All very straight forward, as I took around 7 minutes to install the key holder. The keyholder installed, the Fantom R Wallet felt interesting more solid.

In conclusion? After a few days with the device, I must say the Fantom R RFID Wallet is supremely comfortable to use, the range of customisations offered are an absolute pleasure, and to top it all, it looks super stylish with just the right shade of geekiness. Easily recommended!

The Fantom R Wallet retails at $99, with the modular attachments being priced separately. Click here to build your unique wallet!
