A mere 130 will be built
It is the world’s most powerful series production road car, with a target output of 2000 horsepower, The Lotus Evija electric hypercar arrival in the Gulf states is the latest leg of a world tour which began after the car was unveiled in London on 16 July. It has already included Monterey Car Week in the USA, and Japan Lotus Day.
With production limited to a maximum of 130 cars, the Lotus Evija has been designed and engineered in the UK, and will be produced at Hethel, UK, the home of Lotus since 1966, starting next year.
Lotus says the Evija will boast no less than 1,973 horsepower, courtesy four electric motors capable of generating 493hp each. The power comes from a mid-mount 2,000-kilowatt lithium-ion battery pack, and with all four wheels on accelerative duty, the Evija will sprint to 100 km/h in under 3 seconds, with a top speed of more than 320kph.
Phil Popham, CEO, Lotus Cars and Russell Carr, Director, Lotus Design, presented the Evija at the Lotus Dubai retail outlet, joined by Karl Hamer, CEO of Adamas Motors, Lotus’ retail partner in the United Arab Emirates.
