Excalibur Aventador S marks collaboration
Roger Dubuis and Lamborghini are similar in many ways, niche creators of hi-end pieces in their respective fields, limited to 3,500-4,000 pieces annually. Backed by major groups, they thrive on flamboyant, creative design aesthetics and high-tech engineering.
So this agreement makes perfect sense, in a way.
Roger Dubuis has announced a 5-year signed partnership with Lamborghini, one that will extend to both its niche consumer line as also its motorsport division. The latter will see Roger Dubuis as one of the main sponsors of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo one-make series.
Aptly enough, the partnership was announced at the unveil of the new Huracán Super Trofeo EVO by Lamborghini Squadra Corse, the motorsport department of Automobili Lamborghini.
The Roger Dubuis Excalibur Aventador S is the first watch dedicated to this new partnership, coming in two variations, available in limited runs of 88 and 8 pieces, respectively.
Led by the “Powered by Raging Mechanics” signature, the Excalibur Aventador S boasts an outstanding engine in the shape of the specially developed Duotor caliber, a Lamborghini-exclusive Roger Dubuis movement. The Duotor calibre is notably distinguished by engine strut bars revisiting the iconic Roger Dubuis Astral Skeleton principle, striking an astounding contrast with the rest of the movement, as if the engine ‘hood’ were transparent. Recalling the performance-enhancing longitudinal placement of Lamborghini engines tailored to the design of the sleek, streamlined cars, the double balance wheel is inclined at a similar angle, supported and highlighted by holders shaped like triangular wheel suspension assemblies.
The Roger Dubuis Excalibur Aventador S “Arancio Argos” orange watch represents a world-premier use of C-SMC carbon in watches, with just eight pieces of that model being made. Each shall retail for $216,000. The second Excalibur Aventador S model — of which 88 pieces will be made — is created using color accents of Lamborghini “Giallo Orion” yellow. This version retails for $194,500. Both versions are 45mm wide, 14.05mm thick, and are tested for 5BAR (50m depth equivalent) pressure resistance. The Aventador S watches, like all Roger Dubuis watches, carry the Hallmark of Geneva certification.
