Next-generation cellular technology will arrive soon in the Middle East.
As Mobile World Congress commences this week, Etisalat has announced a partnership with Huawei that will see the deployment of an end-to-end 5G network in the UAE that could be launched as early as this year.
The arrival of 5G in the country is in line with Etisalat’s efforts to enhance the digital experience for users that can potentially benefit various sectors including education, healthcare, and even transportation. Huawei’s role is to provide networking solutions that will support 5G all while offering a smooth adaption to the technology.
“Etisalat continues to focus on digital innovation to ‘Drive the digital future to empower societies’ leading to investments in superior and state-of-the-art technology solutions on the network,” said Saeed Al Zarouni, Senior Vice President, Mobile Networks (pictured above).
“5G service availability will provide high data rates with ultra-low latency, providing unlimited access to all kinds of innovative applications and services and will drive efficiency and productivity to a wide range of business across industrial sectors of the UAE. With its implementation, there will be immense potential for future technologies like AI, robotics, advanced 4K gaming, AR and VR enhancing the overall digital experience for all consumers,” he concluded.
Etisalat started the deployment of 5G in May 2018 starting with the first commercial 5G network on C-band in the MENA region.
