From 5G to AI, everything about the latest and greatest in technology is on display.
The 2019 edition of GITEX Technology Week officially opened its doors today to eager trade visitors who want to see the latest that technology has to offer.
As one of the largest IT exhibitions in the world, GITEX has packed in a lot of activities for the 5-day trade event, this includes a keen focus on 5G, which has already started early adoption in the UAE. 5G, short of fifth-generation cellular technology, allows for download speeds of up to 20 times faster than current broadband speeds – early tests even showed that you can get more than 1 Gbps download speed right from your smartphone (which of course has to be 5G compatible).
The big names in technology were also present: Dell, Microsoft, Acer, and even local entities that include the Dubai and Abu Dhabi Government. The first day of GITEX Technology Week was officially inaugurated by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council.
“The exhibition sector in Dubai has developed considerably over the years from a platform for the launch of new products to a stage for innovation, opportunities, and exchange of ideas and expertise. Today, GITEX has evolved into an event where technology leaders share their vision,” Sheikh Hamdan said in a press statement.
He also highlighted GITEX Future Stars, which is a program directed towards startups, where its aim is to showcase the event as the main platform for various entrepreneurs and investors to network and interact with each other.
One of the biggest stands at GITEX Technology Week was from Etisalat, which has showcased various technologies ranging from 5G to autonomous driving. Even being at their stand will already give you a glimpse of what the future of technology has to offer.
GITEX Technology Week will be held from October 6 – 10th, 2019 at the Dubai World Trade Center.
