A drone that can carry humans?

January 8, 2016

Chinese company has developed a technology that would allow a drone to carry a full-sized human.

Chinese-based Ehang has developed a drone that would be strong enough to lift and carry humans. Called the Ehang 184 (its name means 1 passenger, 8 propellers and 4 arms), was demoed at this year’s CES in Las Vegas and while it can clearly demonstrate the extend of technology drones have achieved, there is still a lot of legal clearances that need to be approved in order for the device to be available for everyone.

The Ehang 184 can take off vertically and is capable of speeds of up to 100 kilometers per hour and can go as high as 11,840 feet. Along with that, it’s internal battery pack is capable of a 23 minute flight time. As the passenger, you only require two button presses for the drone to work, and that’s just for taking off and landing.

While the device is still in its early stages, Ehang has commented that it will continually develop the device to make it safer and more efficient.
