Eye tracking tech is a great add-on
There was a lot to love at Acers offerings at IFA this year, superslim laptops to curved gaming notebooks with eye tracking tech. So here we go.
Predator crushes gaming convention
Acer’s Predator line has ticked all the right screens for sheer audacity. Which brings us to the Predator 21 X, the world’s first curved screen gaming notebook. It’s the world’s first notebook to offer a curved 21-inch IPS display (2560 x 1080). The notebook also integrates Tobii eye tracking technology with intuitive and natural control, which enables interactions like aiming, identifying enemies and taking cover simply by gazing at objects on the screen.
Deep beneath lies a 7th Generation Intel Core processors and dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 graphic cards in SLI, while the curved screen also features NVIDIA G-SYNC tech. SoundPound 4.2+, 3-way audio and Dolby audio give the audio oomph, while an advanced cooling architecture is in place with 5 system fans, 3 of which are ultra-thin AeroBlade metal fans.
The Predator 21 X has a full-sized mechanical keyboard featuring Cherry MX switches, with customizable RGB backlight settings for each individual key. Plus, we also love the unique curved form-factor, the Predator 21 X’s numeric keypad can be flipped over and turned into a Precision Touchpad.
Acer’s Swift 7
Among the devices launched by Acer this week was a new Swift 7 laptop claiming to be the thinnest of its type in the world – just 9.98mm thick. You should be able to slip it into most rucksacks with such svelte dimensions At its IFA 2016 event, CEO Jason Chen announced the Swift series of ultra-thin and lightweight notebook PCs, including the Swift 7, Swift 5, Swift 3 and Swift 1.
Pride of place goes to the Swift 7, which measures a mere 0.39 inches (9.98 mm) thin, making it the world’s first laptop to measure less than 1 cm thin. It’s super light at a mere 1.1 kg, while it doesn’t compromise on sturdiness. Think durable all-aluminum uni-body and a Corning Gorilla Glass 13.3-inch Full HD IPS display with a micro-bezel. Powered by a 7th Generation Intel Core i5 processor, fast 256GB SSD and up to 8GB of memory, it has dual USB 3.1 Type-C ports with up to 9 hours of battery life.
