An Nvidia gaming tablet? Shut up and take my money!

How does a dedicated gaming tablet sound?

Nvidia may have hit bumps with its Shield handheld gaming console, but overall it was a pretty solid piece of hardware. Now if the rumors are true, the company might have something better in the pipeline – a tablet (a gaming tablet perhaps?)

SlashGear is reporting that Nvidia’s next machine will not be a sequel to the Shield but it will be mid-sized Android tablet. This confirms an earlier sighting on the GFXBench website that showed a device named ‘Nvidia Mocha’ – this particular device will run the company’s latest Tegra K1 mobile CPU and supposedly comes with a 2048 x 1536 pixels inside a 7.9-inch screen, which is exactly like the screen found on the iPad mini with Retina Display.

It might also be rumored to be named as the Shield Tablet, but adding the Shield name means that the tablet is mainly geared towards gamers. It’s Nvidia anyways, so the thought of them building a gaming tablet is not a surprise – and puts it in direct competition with gaming-centric tablets like the Wikipad and the Razer Edge. Another source suggests that the tablet itself is just the screen of a two-part component and that Nvidia will also release a gaming controller to be paired with it. We may just have to wait and see what the company has in store, especially that the Nvidia Shield is nearing its first anniversary.
