At Lenovo Accelerate, the brand’s flagship global business event, the focus was on transforming initiatives in todays business landscape. And as befits an event of this magnitude, we had a biggie announcement, the idea of a folding display is extending beyond the world of smartphones, and into the realm of full computers. Lenovo is entering the foldable screen arena with the ThinkPad X1, the World’s first foldable PC!
This is a brilliant extension to the productivity-focused ThinkPad X1 family, with a 13.3″foldable LG OLED 2K display, virtual keyboard, Intel platform, a pen and the promise of all-day battery life.
Combining laptop productivity with smartphone portability to fold into your lifestyle, the ThinkPad X1 came out studies that showcased how remote work increased 140 percent from 2008 to 2016, with more and more employees taking time-sensitive, media-intensive projects with them everywhere. Thus, while in the past a 13.3” screen on a laptop demanded that the device stay at that same size footprint, the single OLED 2K display made in collaboration with LG Display that folds in half and reduce width by 50 percent, adds portability to the power aspect.
In terms of retail availability, expect the ThinkPad X1 in stores in 2020.
