Meet Android’s newest flavor.
After months of developer testing, Google has finally given a name to its next operating system Android P – now officially named Android Pie. Version 9 of the mobile operating system has also started rolling out to Pixel and Pixel 2 users right now.
Google said that the focus for Android Pie simplicity and elegance, with an emphasis on improving the digital well-being of users so that you don’t become addicted to using your device.
A new swipe gesture is being introduced, letting you see open apps and easily swiping them away to close them. Swiping is the new gesture to get around Android Pie, whether you’re browsing through the app drawer or simply multitasking in between apps.
Most of the icons in quick settings have also gotten a revamped along with tweaks to various parts of the operating system.
Additionally, the new Adaptive Battery feature will use machine learning so that it can prioritize apps that you always use and stop background processes from other apps to prevent battery drain.
Android 9 Pie is now available for Pixel and Pixel 2 devices and hopefully, it should roll out to all supported Android devices by the end of this year.
