Get those Nexus smartphones ready!

After the successful beta program initiated by Google for its upcoming Android Nougat mobile operating system, it looks like the OS is now ready for a public release this August after the last developer preview was seeded to beta testers and developers.

Renowed leaker Evan Blass tweeted that the public release for Android 7.0 Nougat is scheduled this August and with come with the monthly security patch.

Additionally, he also confirmed that the Nexus 5 won’t be included in the update – making Android Marshmallow the last supported operating system for one of the most well-received Android Nexus devices.

So if you are Nexus owner, chances are that Android Nougat will be available in just a matter of weeks.

Android 7.0 Nougat will be supported on the following Nexus devices: Nexus 5X, 6P, 6, 9, Pixel C, and Nexus Player and Sony Xperia Z3. Other manufacturers are also scheduled to announce support when it releases.
