Music recognition service is one of the popular smartphone apps.

Shazam has been around for a while, even before smartphone became famous. But its app is what made the company what it is now, a tool for users that lets them identify a song that’s playing.

Apple announced that it has completed the acquisition of the company, where the deal was initially made last year. The $400 million purchase of Shazam was delayed due to an investigation by the EU over antitrust issues.

Apple has also announced that the app will now be completely ad-free on both the iOS and Android version. Shazam has currently been downloaded more than 1 billion times with a reported 20 million daily users. Shazam’s integration with Apple is now evident in its use on iOS through Siri’s song recognition features.
