Now that’s something you don’t see every day.
Months after it was confirmed that Apple is bringing its updated TV app to competitor’s Smart TVs, it now confirmed that the new TV has started rolling out to Samsung Smart TVs. The update started rolling out just as iOS 12.3 and tvOS 12.3 were also released.
With the TV app arriving on Smart TVs, this means that Apple is now expanding its reach outside of its own hardware ecosystem. This means that all your iTunes purchases can now be viewed through these Smart TVs – without the need for additional hardware like the Apple TV.
Also arriving to supported devices is support for AirPlay 2, which instantly turns your Smart TV into an Apple TV where you can mirror content from your iPhone, or output music playing from it. It will also have support HomeKit so you can control your devices right from the TV.
Supported Samsung models that will have the new TV app and AirPlay 2 include models from 2018 up to the current and ranges from their FHD, HD and UHD line all the way up to the high-end QLED line.
