Apple unveils new iPad Pro and MacBook Air models

March 18, 2020

New iPad Pros introduced with a trackpad and a cheaper and faster MacBook Air.

Apple has officially announced a new iPad Pro that comes with the new A12Z Bionic chip that the company claims is more powerful than most Windows PC laptops. Both the 11-inch and 12.9-inch versions will now have a new Ultra Wide camera along with studio-quality mics and a LiDAR Scanner that enables depth-sensing capabilities that can be utilized by pro photo and video apps. The new scanner will also aid in delivering the best augmented reality experience on the iPad Pro.

The upcoming iPadOS 13.4 update will also add trackpad support to the iPad, making it a great laptop alternative. The introduction of trackpad support also coincides with the release of the new Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro accessory, which now comes with its own trackpad and backlit keys.

The screen of the iPad Pro remains unchanged – but it is still the same Liquid Retina display with ProMotion technology support for up to 120Hz refresh rate, True Tone and P3 wide color support.

New to the iPad Pro is the 10-megapixel Ultra Wide camera that offers a wider field of view. The device is equipped with five studio-quality cameras and the same four-speaker audio output.

The new LiDAR Scanner allows the iPad Pro to measure the distance of surrounding objects up to 5 meters away whether you’re inside or outside. Combine this with the computing power of the A12Z Bionic chip along with all the onboard sensors, it can create a whole new experience that was never done before on a mobile device.

The new iPad Pro is now available for pre-order and will release on March 25th starting at 3,199 AED for the 11-inch version and 3,799 for the 12.9-inch version. Storage options now include 128GB along with 256GB, 512GB and 1TB. Education pricing is also available.

Updated MacBook Air line now starts at 4,199 AED

The MacBook Air has also been updated to include faster processors, more storage and the new Magic Keyboard – all of this for a lower starting price. These new MacBook Air models now offer up to two times faster CPU performance using Intel’s 10th-Gen processors and up to 80 percent faster graphics performance with storage options now starting at 256GB.

There’s also the 13-inch Retina display, Touch ID and the Magic Keyboard that originally came with the 16-inch MacBook Pro. The new scissor mechanism delivers 1mm of key travel with a new inverted T design for the arrow keys.

The new MacBook Air will be available next week with a starting price of 4,199 AED.

Apple has also updated the Mac mini with a base option of 256GB starting at 3,299 AED.
